Do I need iTunes to transfer iPhone photos to my PC?
No. Over WiFi, Photo Transfer doesn't use iTunes or any Apple software on the PC: your iPhone runs a local server and Windows connects to it. If you'd rather use a USB cable, install Apple's free Apple Devices app from the Microsoft Store — it provides the iPhone USB driver Photo Transfer uses. iTunes isn't needed either way.
Can I transfer over a USB cable instead of WiFi?
Yes. Connect your phone to the PC with a USB cable and keep Photo Transfer open on it. iPhone and iPad need the free Apple Devices app on the PC; on Android, turn on USB tethering. Your phone then shows up in the Windows app, marked as USB. USB works on the free plan too.
Does it work on Windows 10?
Yes. Photo Transfer runs on Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) and Windows 11. If your Windows 10 has received updates in the last few years, you're covered.
Does it work on ARM Windows devices like the Surface Pro X?
Photo Transfer for Windows is built for x64 PCs with Intel or AMD processors; there is no ARM64 version yet. Windows 11 on ARM can run many x64 apps through its built-in emulation, so it may work on ARM-based PCs, but we can't guarantee it.
Where do my photos go after a transfer?
Wherever you tell them to go. Pick any folder on your PC — Pictures, Desktop, OneDrive, an external drive, a network share — and received photos land there. There's no hidden app container or cache to dig through later.
